Databases can greatly enhance a website by allowing it to display information that is retrieved from a database. This is called a “dynamic” website, and it makes it much more interesting than “static” websites which always look the same. For instance, a footwear website would not be very helpful if it displayed every shoe in every possible colour and size. With a database it could ask you for your size and maybe colour preference, and only show the shoes that fit you.
Dynamic websites typically come with an administration section where you log in and modify the content of the database or add new items to it. If you already have a database then all you will need is an interface between your database and the database on the website so that you can easily copy information.
Highlands Business Solutions have extensive experience in creating database driven websites, either with their own in-built maintenance function or with a synchronisation function so that you can easily transfer your existing database. Please contact us if you like to find out more.
